Sib. 7.0: Alphabetic input - choosing octave
Posted by Jolyon Dodgson - 17 Feb 11:04AM
I get very irritated when creating an orchestral score using the alphabetic and numeric keyboard when I find that a note I have correctly inputted has been inserted onto the stave at the wrong octave. Sibelius seems to assume that the octave I want is the one closest to the note I last inputted. Clearly this is not always the case. If I want the next note to be a leap of, say a 6th or more above or below the last note, how do I specify the octave from the keyboard? There must be an answer to this but I have looked through all the help files I can find and have come up with nothing useful so far.

On Windows, use Ctrl-uparrow or Ctrl-downarrow to move the note by an octave. On Mac OS, Command-uparrow or Command-downarrow.

In QWERTY mode of the keyboard, your input is constrained to a particular octave. Z moves that octave down and X moves it up.
