I am running Sibelius 8.5.1 on a 13" Macbook Pro (Retina, Early 2015). My OS is El Capitan 10.11.3.

I have rapidly approaching deadlines and I cannot open Sibelius because something in the Ideas Library is corrupt and it crashes when loading the ideas library.

I have followed the steps to delete/reinstall Sibelius twice and have tried removing com.avid.sibelius.plist from my computer, but it still crashes. I opened a support case with Avid eleven days ago (I have a support plan and my customer ID), but I have no reason to believe Avid customer support actually exists with the experience I've had with them in the past 6 years.

Any suggestions?

Deleting and re-installing Sibelius will not help: it does not remove any corrupt Ideas in the User Library.

Assuming that you have been using the Ideas feature to save Ideas of your own, you can remove those as follows:

Do not use Search/Spotlight, but in the Finder:
- while holding down the Option key, pull down the "Go" menu and select "Library";
- from the User Library folder that opens, open sub-folder "Application Support";
- from "Application Support, open sub-folder "Avid";
- from "Avid", open sub-folder "Sibelius";
- from "Sibelius", open sub-folder "Ideas";
- from "Ideas", delete all the contents.

Of course, just because the last message on the splash screen you saw concerned Ideas, it might nevertheless be that it was not an Idea that crashed Sibelius: it might have been the next start-up task after Ideas that caused the problem.

Thanks for the reply!

I looked in there, but there weren't any files there, so I hate to say you're probably right in that it's nothing to do with the Ideas library. I have no idea what the next start-up task is after Ideas Detailed View.
