Sib. 7.0: tenor voice playback
Posted by Carolina - 15 Feb 06:21PM
I have written a piece in SSATBB but the Tenor voice plays back as Bass and the notes which are absolutely in the T range are mostly red onscreen. Any suggestions? I'm a fairly newbie. Thanks.

Please attach the score which demonstrates the issue, as we cannot otherwise work out how you have the Tenor voice configured.

Please remember that the Tenor voice instrument incorporates an octave-down transposition: it sounds an octave lower than written.

Hi Robin: Thanks, I didn't know the tenor sounded an octave lower than written; that is what I'm hearing rather than the bass part. Why though is the baritone part able to sing higher including many of the same notes used in the tenor part?
Anyway, I'm attaching my score so you see the red notes in the tenor line; please see Bar 26. And, this is a work in progress...

The tenor, as an instrument, is set to playback down an octave, as it is generally written that way. See the attached.

But if Carolina wants the part in bass clef, transposition needs to be edited to actual pitch (middle C = C4). As attached.

Thanks Adrian. But how did you edit that to actual pitch? It now sounds like a tenor voice but it is still written in the bass clef where I originally had it (where it used to sound an 8ve lower) Sorry if this doesn't make sense. In any case, I have also found the G clef with the "dangling 8" which gives me the tenor sound. Thanks everyone for your input.
