The bari sax part will not sound any note with a dot on it. Why?

This is a commonly reported problem with the Sibelius 7 Sounds sample library. Try selecting playback configuration "Sibelius 7 Sounds (Lite)".

I tried that a while back (and again just now) and had no luck. There is a sound there, but it is *very* quiet. I could not get it to work with any S7S configuration. Maybe that's limited to my installation.

Substituting a bassoon is not too unreasonable, but the ranges are different.

Using other libraries is another solution, but not a very satisfactory one. I think NotePerformer saxes sometimes sound more like harmonicas. The Garritan Concert and Marching Band (2) saxes have a very unnatural attack.
