OT - Anthony Wakefield`s compromised BT email
Posted by Tony Wakefield - 12 Jan 05:47PM
At last some joy, and disappointment from BT. After much telephoning and waiting, including one cut off, I now have my e-mail working again correctly. I have had the same e-mail address for 15 years, and came to discover today that BT had me down as `btopenworld`, and not `btinternet`. They could not explain this! I have lost all my e-mail address contacts gathered over 15 years, and they can not give me a reason why this has happened. I can only guess that I `may` have picked up this `infiltrator` last w/e when I found a foreign site which advertised showing Sky Sports football online - it looked a bit suspect but I went ahead. BT have informed me that they now cannot retrieve these email addresses. Nevertheless I`m now going ahead to try for compensation.

For your interest my e-mail address is now back to normal, even if my head isn`t.

Once more I am so sorry for this inconvenience to you all. I`m surviving now at present on cups of tea with a couple of glasses of Famous Grouse every 4 hours.
Have no desire to compose at the moment, only decompose ....

I shall now throw myself into `A Life on Mars` (British TV drama on DVD) for the next few days as I`ve been given the whole series which will no doubt turn me into a `couch potato` - ah - good title for a song - or even symphonic suite - ha ha.

Best wishes to you all.
A

You have no need to apologise for anything, Tony. You haven't done anything wrong.

Thanks Mike :)

[Does John Squires-Evans mean anything to you? (Poulton-le-Fylde) He`s just purchased something for his junior band contest.]

Doncha worry 'bout it, Mike. No damage done at my end, even tho' I was dumb enough to reply to an obvious bad email. Well, it was early morning and before my first cup of coffee.

The name rings a faint bell, but only because I keep my nose in brass band business. I don't think I've ever met him. I may be silent over the next few days, as I'm off to Skegvegas tonight for the Butlins Mineworkers Contest. Flood warnings are out!

Under water brass band competition? That should be interesting.

Well, the floods were a washout - an inverse Michael Fish moment. We had two days of glorious sunshine.
