I have Sibelius, and every SINGLE TIME in any score (even blank scores) without exception - if I try and export a score to Graphics - Sibelius freezes, and then inevitably crashes.
It used to work about 6 months ago, as far as I know, and I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling Sibelius, but the problem still exists.
Does ANYONE know how to fix this??? It will let me export the score as anything else with no problems, just not as a graphic.
Can I ask what your purpose is in exporting to graphics? I ask because there might be another way to achieve what you want. Some details about your system will also help (OS, RAM, Disc size etc.)

No matter what sibelius file I open (I have tried over a dozen different files now), the same thing happens. I have the document, I click 'File' in the top left corner, then scroll down and click 'Export', and if I click 'Graphics'... Sibelius instantly freezes - claims it's 'Not responding'. The mouse still works and I can alt-tab and use other applications, however Sibelius literally just freezes. I left it for 10 minutes and nothing happened - it continued to just sit there frozen. It's then I have to just close Sibelius and restart.
I can export to audio and PDF just fine, but not graphics.
I suppose technically I could, but the feature in Sibelius was much, much easier and didn't involve other apps to convert it to an image.
Plus the fact that if I do have a lapse in memory and try and export something as a graphic file, I risk having Sibelius freeze and potentially losing my work.
The fact that a bug this big causes the entire program to freeze is quite drastic.
> if I click 'Graphics'... Sibelius instantly freezes - claims it's 'Not responding'.
This does not happen for anyone else.
What is Sibelius displaying in its window when it freezes? Can you attach a screen-shot of that?
When Sibelius freezes, is Windows trying to indicate that you should interact with a dialogue that is hidden behind the Sibelius window? Is there a flashing icon in the Windows taskbar?
I suspect that the problem might lie with the Windows installation, or its configuration. Are there any third-party utilities installed on this Windows?

Sibelius 8.4/7.5.1/7.1.3/6.2/5.2.5, PhotoScore Ult 8.0.4, Dolet 6.6 for Sibelius, Windows 10 64-bit 16GB. Desktop no-name, Microsoft Surface Book.
I've attached a screenshot of me just before I click the 'Graphic' option. I did find a number of threads with this problem, but they were with older versions of Sibelius (like Sibelius v6)
When Sibelius freezes, is Windows trying to indicate that you should interact with a dialogue that is hidden behind the Sibelius window? No...
Is there a flashing icon in the Windows taskbar? Again, no. It just literally freezes as it displays.
The problem is that it used to work fine a number of months ago, and I can't think of what could be interfering... I can't think of any actual 3rd party programs as I'm quite picky with what I install and whether they are legitimate programs.
mh, your screenshots are displaying "Export to Audio".
Despite of that can you try to export to another location. My first idea was that perhaps you try to export to a location you don't have write access to.
It also could be (but shouldn't of course) that Sibelius has problems with the character "&" in your path.
Edit:
Ah, I understand, you even don't get to the graphics page. Can you select the other options like "PDF", "Midi" etc.? Yes, you can :-)
Strange problem. Perhaps try to select another default location in the preferences.
Yes, you are right - when you click 'Export', the default option selected before you can click anything else is 'Export to Audio'. The second I change the selection to 'Export to Graphic'... it freezes.
Yes, I can export to Midi, PDF and Audio etc... the only option I have trouble with is the Export to Graphic.
And although the & in the title might complicate things, it won't even let me create a blank stave and export it as a graphic file, whether the file has a savename or whether it's unnamed.
yes, it's very unlikely that it has something to do with the file system. Tested it and Sibelius doesn't complain even when given a path without write permission.
Have you tested if it works when you first make a graphic selection with alt+g or when you switch to panorama mode shift+p?
Or have you tried to running Sibelius "as Administrator"?
You appear to be using Sibelius 7.1.3 on a PC with a HiDPI display. Sibelius 7.1.3 is not compatible with the pixel scaling in Windows 8.1 or 10 for HiDPI displays. There is no fix for this, apart from upgrading to a current version of Sibelius.

@Kai... Alt-G works when copying a graphic selection. Hadn't even known that was a feature... could be very handy for now. Shame I can't get it to do high-resolution snapshots of the score for YouTube... but it's a workaround for now. Same with the Panorama mode - works as well.
Sibelius as administrator gives the same problem - no difference.
@Robin... Tested this by putting my monitor on 1920x1080 res, however same problem exists. No matter what res I'm in, the problem occurs.
@Mike... Exporting to Audio works BRILLIANTLY for me. I use it with the Kontakt 'Grandeur' VST and the results are impeccable. I also tried re-installing Sibelius from the CD, however the same problem occurred on the new install.
The only other step I can think of is to format the hard drive, and THEN re-install, in case there is something wrong with the registry or a background command or something.

You can clear Sibelius-related Registry entries and user files by rather less drastic means!
> Problem still occurs even when I disable the Pixel scaling.
In which case, I revert to questioning the Windows installation. For instance, are there any third-party graphics components added to Windows? Is any anti-malware utility interfering with the operation of Sibelius?
I cannot reproduce this issue on Windows 10.
Can you reproduce this issue with Sibelius on a different PC?

Graphics Components? The only thing I have installed to do with Graphics is my NVidia Drivers, but they're legitimate drivers... I'd hope they wouldn't do anything, especially since I've been using them for over 6 years.
Anti-Malware? My only anti-virus is Trend Micro, but again - have been using it for years.
For now, sounds like the logical thing to do is format my PC, re-install and see if it does the same thing. If it does, then I'm completely buggered...
First, before re-formatting, try disabling (or even uninstalling) Trend, restarting Windows, then trying Sibelius again.
By "Graphics components" I mean things like third-party graphics or video codecs, for example.
Another avenue of investigation is this: if you have updated to Windows 10 from an earlier version of Windows on the same PC, then some Windows Device Drivers might be out-of-date (even if Windows Device Manager says they are up-to-date: it lies).

2 workaround tricks for you:
1. when using alt+g and the clipboard the resolution can be as high as set in the preferences under "other".
2. Sibelius ships with batch processing plugins. "Convert folder of scores to graphics" is one. It doesn't invoke the graphics dialog for that so chances are that it may work if you need to export whole scores.
Just thought I would let you all know - I've just formatted, and the Export Graphics option has continued to function properly again.
Thank you SO much to everyone for helping me in this matter... It was just driving me nuts. I believe it was the upgrade to Windows 10 that buggered it.
