I'm currently using Sibelius 7.5, though I did purchase the upgrade to Sibelius 8 earlier in the year. I haven't currently downloaded it because I was, and still am, in the middle of a major project.
Now the 8.5 release sorely tempts me, mainly because of the greater flexibility over stave sizes.
From searching the archive here, it seems that downloading and installing 8.5, doesn't remove Sib.7.5. I can't find a definitive answer however, as to whether the 7.5 version becomes unregistered.
So, would I be able to run and switch between the two versions?

It's your choice, during the installation of Sibelius 8.x, whether to retain or delete earlier versions of Sibelius.

You also get the option to copy support files:
House Styles/MS paper/Configurations etc.
It also copies your shortcuts, but your user copy may not be selected - so if you find they aren't working check in:
Files>Preferences>Keyboard Shortcuts
Make sure your user copy is selected.
