Sib. 7.1.3: Palestrina style beginning
Posted by manu_mlp - 24 Nov 09:06PM
Hello everyone.

I would like to know if, by chance, there is anything like the image in the attachment.

1) The idea of making this kind of layout.
2) any idea of the font used for ancient clefs

I think I prefer to know the 2nd point because i can handle the whole score and add the first part in InDesign or Photoshop just before publishing my job.

Cheers

Hm ... I'm not expert at early music but I'd create a separate document for just the incipit and then another score for the rest of the rest of the score.

I don't know how to create the old style clefs but the equivalents are all in Sibelius.

You can delete the time signature, and use stemless notehead types.

The vertical symbol between top and bottom note can be found in symbols.

Once you have the two scores, I'd combine them with Photoshop or something like that.

See attached example (don't mind the ranges, just an example).

The Sib 3 manual has a "How to" visual index with an "Early music" page and a pointer to the "Prefatory staves" page. Perhaps later manuals explain the clef fonts.

Fwiw, I prefer to have ranges shown after the editorial clef, to avoid ambiguity.
