Sib. 7.1.3: Signs going daft (is this a bug?)
Posted by Tony Wakefield - 22 Oct 12:03PM (edited 22 Oct 12:09PM)
...... or is it me? I`m trying to get two lots of 4 bars rest with the `back to sign` positioned from bar 4. At present it all starts with 3 bars rest en bloc and one stray bar - as shown in attached. I have tried cancelling magnetic layout and repositioning the Sign. Re-adjusting the bars rests then just repositions the sign anywhere, and the bars AND sign just keep jumping around to make any unwanted forms of 8 bars rest.

The same sort of thing also with the 15 and 1 bars rest - on the 2nd stanza. I would like 16 bars rest. This sounds like a stupid game show . . . . . 15 to 1 - geddit? Is this a bug or is it easily solved by messing around deep in the bowels of Jean Sibelius? I`ve looked in the manual but there is so much to chew through, so I`m now in here.
Thanks.

Pull the text objects forward a bit until they attach to the beginning of the next bar, not the barline.

This would have been easier to demonstrate on a sib file rather than a picture of one.

Is this what you want?

But you only sent the single part - as a score. The score/part relationship is a factor.

I don't care much for your desktop texture, Tony. Methinks Afromosia is much warmer ;-)
