When I add a new line type (I made a sloping line with an arrow at the opposite end) it only appears as an option in the score I created it in. Is there any way to make user-created lines available universally?

You can export a house style and then use it for new scores. You can also simply copy and paste the line into a new score, and it will then appear in the Lines menu.
