Reset Beam Groups
Posted by hanstutschku - 26 Sep 04:44PM
I have a score with a lot of time signature changes. The Beam Groups for 3/4 and 5/4 don't correspond to what I would like it to be. Is there a way to change the beam groups for all bars with a particular time signature?
I could, of course, go through the entire score, bar by bar and manually reset them, which is tedious.

Where are the beam group settings stored? I understand that they can be defined while creating a particular time signature. What about changing it after the music has been entered?

In 7.1, select the passage, then Appearance > Beam Groups > Reset Beam Groups and make the necessary changes there.

Maybe something similar applies to other versions.

I'm aware of that solution. But as my message states, the score is full of time signature changes and Reset Beam Groups does obviously not work accross bars with different time signatures.
It would be very time consuming to go through all bars, one by one in a long score to reset every bar. I was wondering if there is a way to globally reset the beaming for a specific time signature already present in the score.

"... Reset Beam Groups does obviously not work accross bars with different time signatures."

I think you have answered your own question, in that case.

Ok. Let me rephrase my question then as it might not be clear.

Is there some menu/function or possibility to edit in the HouseStyle the way Beam groups are interpreted for the current score?
Some thing along those lines:
- reset beam groups for all 4/4 bars in entire score

Or is there another way to change Beam Groups without clicking on every single bar, pop up the parameter window and fill in the new beam groups. (This is a 'many-click' operation to just correct one bar). Every time I'm then coming again to a 4/4 bar, I have to give all those parameters again.

I really don't know if this will work but offer it up anyway...

Having adjusted one 4/4 bar, can you copy that TS and paste it onto all your other 4/4 bars? It's still "many clicks", but less than doing each bar one by one

Steve
