Sib. 7.1.3: Key signature in score/parts

Hi all,

For some reason I can't change the key signature in my score. I changed a part, thinking it would be affect the whole score, silly me. Then went to the score, and it didn't show, so I tried to change the score(area select, change key), and no effect. I can't seem to change the key in any way now, even if I cancel the key change in the part. Any ideas?

I can make a key change in your score OK. What key do you want it to be in? Which instrument part did you change? There is only anything written on the bass staff.

I have tho' learned something myself. I didn't know you could change key in a part w'out it affecting the score. I must try and remember that.

From m. 17-48 moves to e minor, then back to major, then e minor again from 64 to the end.

If I were you, I would make all key changes in the score. Unless you are doing some polytonal extravaganza where different instruments are in different keys at the same time - or your're doing a wind-up - there is little need for a key change that the conductor can't see!

It works fine for me - adding the KS changes in the score.

Not much polytonality in 1930's tango. :)

FWIW, like I said I assumed changing the part I was working on would affect the score, but I guess not.

In the general situation there are reasons why you would want the part different from the score - for example, tweaks to the formatting when the part is for a transposing instrument and the score is at concert pitch. You might even want to have one staff in the score in several different parts, with different formatting in each part.

Sibelius doesn't try to second guess what changes "might" be usefully linked back to the score. If you change anything in a part, it only affects the part.
