Sib. 7.5: Is exporting a graphic a major bug or is it me.

G'day everyone.

I am composing a piano piece A3 size, which is mostly graphic in nature. I am exporting some standard music notation from Sibelius A3 size 300 dpi and importing the graphic into Photoshop for compositing.

BUT when I import the graphic, which can be either a bitmap 300dpi or PNG, into Photoshop, there are coloured pixels around the image, one pixel width.

See attached screen dumps.

This is extremely frustrating as I may need to do a lot of fine tuning in Photoshop to recolour the dud pixels.

Is this a major bug in Sibelius or am I doing something wrong. If I am the culprit, then please assist.

Thank you for your help and seeya.

No, it's not a bug in Sibelius. What you are seeing is Windows ClearType font smoothing, a form of anti-aliasing to reduce the apparent jagged edges you would otherwise see if the pixels were just black or white. Things look better on the screen that way. You are only seeing the coloured pixels because you have enlarged the graphic so that you can see each pixel independently.

If you prefer the jagged edges, you can turn off anti-aliasing in Sibelius export.

I don't know how you managed to make JPG graphics, as Sibelius does not support JPEG image export. JPEG is not the optimal format for music graphics (JPEG is fine for photos). You would do better sticking to PNG format for the music graphics.

Thank you Robin for your help.

I created the JPG from Photoshop, not from Sibelius.

Best wishes and keep up the great work.
