>As one who has been on both sides (user and working for hardware/software companies) I think you may have expectations beyond what is practicable. In my view, Avid has some very large fish to fry, and while Sibelius is one of their products, and it is very important to those on this forum, I'm pretty sure it is not a major profit center. I for one am very thankful for Sibelius. I'm a recent Finale convert, and have no plan to go back...
Hi Bob-
On WHAT basis are you 'pretty sure' of this ? What proof do you offer that Sibelius is "not a major profit center"? Links etc? Thanks so much:)
And its not ONLY the profit angle of Sibelius that's important, but also the prestige which once was attached to the name Sibelius, among notation programs, which sadly for many has recently been badly and irreparably tarnished .
>I'm pretty sure that nearly everyone is trying to do their best to make the company and its products succeed and prosper.
Yes Im quite sure that when AVID fired Daniel and the entire Sibelius development team--mind you, WITHOUT any replacements-- they were "do(ing) their best to make the company and its products succeed and prosper."
This same discarded team has gone onto create Dorico, under Steinberg, which is due to be released sometime between Oct 1 and Dec 31, and is considered by many to probably be the beginning of the end for Sibelius.

And we now have four development teams, if I count correctly doing the fired teams jobs with two people now also doing Daniels job.
And when AVID was delisted from NASDAQ, and also was under investigation by the DOJ and SEC. and also facing private suits, and was sentenced to trading on "the pink tier"--OTC Markets - OTC Pink Tier for "creative bookeeping" Im sure they were again "doing their best to succeed and prosper".

And a little more recently, AVID decided to go the subscription route over MUCH protest from its user base, which has since proven to create extremely bug ridden and seemingly rushed out unfinished updates, with questionable "features". This ALSO caused many users--like myself--to NOT subscribe, with many--again like myself- waiting for the aforementioned Dorico.
AVIDS stock also was once as high as about $67 bucks, and now is $7 and change.
And couple all this with notification emails not being sent, release announcements on the forum being totally botched repeatedly, forum problems, etc etc etc, and you get a better picture of whats going on.
The complete disregard, and disrespect of Sibelius users is simply unprofessional, unwise, and extremely poor business practice REGARDLESS of where we fit in on your "major profit centers".
And I note that only the LONG TERM users are being hit with this HUGE upgrade penalty--$199 now, $299 starting Jan 1 2017 as the education users stay at $89 REGARDLESS of how many times they jump on and off the Sibelius subscription bandwagon.
Theres much more, Bob, and your posts seems well intentioned, but REALLY uninformed of the past, and present history of Sibelius. Being a Finale convert also possibly might make the grass seem greener on the Sibelius side, with everything rosier, but please take a much more informed look, as theres a whole bunch of huge weeds growing, as it were, strangling Sib, and what it once was.
YMMV
Thanks Bob
