This is driving me crazy, an I know the reaction I get will be "Attach the score" and "we could not find anything wrong in the attached score", ...
Version 8 only gives me more headaches than anything else. Now, randomly, expression text and metronome text is becoming invisible. Clicking (ONLY clicking it), make it visible and invisible again. When its visible, the exported PDF will still not show those text styles. I lost so much time just fixing things since started with 8 and up. And because I am working with large orchestral scores, I am afraid that saving as a previous version (going back to version 7.5), only will give me more stuff to fix. Any suggestions that could really help me?
Have you got Hidden Objects ticked under the view tab? Some text items (MM) are hidden (using [ctrl][shift]h) it's probably better to use the tilde (~).
"A tempo" no longer needs a metronome mark to put the tempo back. You could also make "Calmer =63" a single piece of text also eliminating the need for a hidden piece of MM text.

I am guessing it's a corrupt Opus Text Std font or Palatino font. André's Sibelius 8.4.1 file behaves well on my Mac. I exported a PDF and nothing was missing.

I cannot reproduce this effect with the score posted above on a Mac with El Capitan and Sibelius 8.4.1. Mind you, the score posted above is only an Extracted Part, not the Full Score. And it's not the same Extracted Part as the one the video was made from.
Maybe there are some settings on your Mac or in your Sibelius, which are not available to us, which might be triggering the issue.

Yes, but it doesn't matter which score I tried in 8.4.1, even though it's not the same as in the video. All the files act like this on my Mac. It must be something on my Mac, I am sure. At the moment I went back to 6.2, because 7.5 is too slow, it takes about 2 minutes to open file (the Mac freezes) and I need to edit a lot of parts, that would take too much time.
It took a lot of looking to figure out what the cause actually was and whether it appeared only on one machine. It may be unrelated to what you are seeing but it is hard to say. In out experience it only started appearing in 8.4. 8.3 was ok.
So if you have access to an earlier version of Sib 8 it might be interesting to see if the same things happen for you in that version.
Did it happen in 7.5 on the same machine?
> There is a known bug in 8.4 where text with an embedded tilde (~) is not hidden on printing, though it looks fine on screen. I discuss it here.

I never use a tilde to hide elements, so I am not sure if this is related to the problem I have. It doesn't happen in 7.5 on the same machine, no, so it must be 8.x related.
