Hi Bob,
I would think that software, like Application Manager, would display the same behaviour across the board. I mean, the code probably make use of a timer subroutine set to run at a certain time eg...notify user upon AppMan startup, and then remind user every x amount of time. Whatever the conditions upon which an user should be notified (btw there it just popped up again!), is coded in the software and I would imagine we ALL should experience this same issue. And, if so, why am I the ONLY person on Earth complaining about it? Are you guys OK being pested about purchasing for subscriptions roughly EVERY 15 - 20 minutes a day?! Does this truly not irritate anybody else? I mean...people unsubscribe from newsletter emails from companies when such a company fills their inboxes TWICE A WEEK! But AVID...120 times A DAY! Guys, am I really unreasonable complaining about this? Why don't YOU guys also complain about it, or are you really content with this.
Like I said before, I am pretty convinced that EVERY USER KNOWS that they must pay for a subscription at a certain point in the year. Now, if AVID would remind us whenever Sibelius starts up...well...ok, maybe this is acceptable...but SO MANY TIMES. I work on a complex voicing or harmonic progression, hearing the different instrument colors in my head and working out which instrument should play a certain note of a chord...then DING!!!!!! (btw...there is just popped up again!)...I click on the X (on the notification fly-out) and return to my score...just as I get out of my irritation and start working again DDIIIIINNNGGGG!!!! :-)
We are NOT allowed to use foul language on the forum here....correct?
Anyway Bob, don't Sibelius need the AppMan to authenticate the copy on my machine? If Sibelius don't get AppMan's "approval" Sibelius goes into TRIAL mode and cannot Save, Export, Print etc. So I cannot imagine that uninstalling it is an option...OR IS IT? Can I truly uninstall AppMan and will Sibelius run activated? I DO exit AppMan in the Task Manager once Sibelius is up and running but it comes back. It also comes back (runs) when Sibelius starts up or when you load a new score. However it works, it COMES BACK!
Still...my $89 went into more updates of the Application Manager than Sibelius itself. Are you telling me the coders cannot re-program the code of this notification feature...like a tick box in OPTIONS that specifically stop AppMan to display ANY type of notification...NOT a generic tick box for ALL notifications...which clearly does not work anyway?
WHY are we fighting about THIS issue AVID? Such a small thing turning into such a BIG thing. Are you guys at AVID really concerned about your company's financial state so that you are reduced to such behaviour and irritate users...like those TV preachers CONSTANTLY "notifying" viewers....SEED, SEED, SEED!!! Send us your SEED! :-)
American companies truly perfected the begging technique!...even in Churches! (there it just popped up again!) :-( :-(
I'm DONE asking, talking, BEGGING about this issue. I guess I will just have to suck it up and divorce this B....tch as soon as possible. AVID's attitude (to my disappointment) truly negatively changed my opinion about their software (which I once loved and respected AND promoted) and I will just have to be honest when musicians ask my advice here in South Africa...which most likely will not bother you gentlemen at AVID anyway. Oh well...
