Hi,

Can somebody tell me how to tell Sibelius to slow down to a certain tempo?

In version 6 we could select a Rit. line and in Properties choose for "bpm" or 50% of the tempo..

How is it done in version8,

The same way. The Properties panel is now called the Inspector.

What I usually do is set a new metronome mark where I want the new tempo then if you want to slow down or speed up into the new tempo I use a Rit, Rall or Accel from the lines selector on the Notations tab. If you don't want a gradual change into a new metronome marking visible then you can hide the line and you can stack them to get more of a tempo change

Very ingenious, sperger, but quite unnecessary! Just use one for line and adjust its effect in the Inspector.

You can easily control the way lines change the tempo by setting a BPM to go to or a %age change. You can insert an exact (hidden) speed as part of a tempo marking after the rit/rall/accel. In sib 7.5 and up, "A tempo" will return to the tempo before the line and "Tempo Primo" will return to the tempo at the start.

Try typing Allegro ~=124 to demonstrate what I mean (q=quarter note/crotchet). See asttached.
