Sib. 7.5: limitcheck and xshow fault when printing from Sibelius
Posted by Jan Steele - 06 Jun 07:23PM (edited 06 Jun 07:27PM)
I've encountered an error on a Kyocera Ecosys FS-1030D laser printer when printing a specific score from Sibelius. Other scores print fine.

I get this error

ERROR: limitcheck
OFFENDING COMMAND: xshow
TACK:
[83.52 118.32 98.832 112.288 103.704 120.408 0.0]
(!*#$%&')

There are no problems printing a regular document from a wordprocessing program such as Pages. I was able to print easily from Sibelius two days ago.

Any idea what I should do?

NB I've discovered that I can export to pdf and print the pdfs no problem. Still - I would like to know what is wrong with this specific file.

The "limitcheck" error means the page was too complex for the printer to handle, so it will be specific to one particular file.

Judging by this
http://usa.kyoceradocumentsolutions.com/americas/jsp/upload/product/15067/0/fs-1030dspecsheet.pdf the "standard" memory fitted is only 32 Mb, which suggests it's a rather old printer, as does the fact that the latest Windows OS mentioned is XP (which is no longer supported by Microsoft!)

If there are options for other print modes like "draft" or "economy", try them. Otherwise, you are probably stuck with printing via a PDF. Presumably the data is organized differently in the PDF and the printer can handle that - but there is no way to know "how close to the cliff edge" you are when printing from PDF, until that fails as well!

Thanks for your reply Rob. I've done a bit more testing and it seems it's only when using the Reprise font.
