system size control
Posted by Grant Cahoon - 27 Apr 10:31PM

I am writting a rhythm drill for my band. Some rhythms I want to be single and some I want to have 2 staves (2 percussion single staves). How do you write music where you have some of the music use one staff and other parts of it use 2 or three staffs. I have been using the 'ossia" feature to get other staves, but the size is smaller.

Ossia is an ok way to do this. By default, ossias come up as 'small' but if you don't want this, hit 'i' and choose your ossia stave and uncheck the 'small staff' box (below the list of staves).

Alternative approach: hit 'i' and create as many extra staves as you will need. Enter all your music then hide all the extra staves which you are not using (you can do this globally by selecting the whole file (Cmd/A) and then Cmd/Shift/Opt/H)
