(this was also retweeted by Sam)

Please correct me if Im mistaken--Sib 8.3 hasn't even BEEN released yet, has it?

and Sib 8.2 is broken and has problems--a major one being the Reset Design changing accidentals bug.

IIRC the other Sib 8's also have some problems--

Is this also correct?

This kind of post REALLY gives the wrong impression, and that really isnt fair to ALL users. It can easily mislead people, which Im QUITE sure isnt the intention here.

Even one of AVID's staunch supporters here states:

>The stated policy is continual micro-updates. I'm not sure this is working too well - they seem to be including rather too many unfinished and poorly-tested changes - but that's what is on offer.
>

Also this was said:

>If a fix for this particular bug doesn't arrive in time (or if a fix is rushed out without proper testing and other things break - and remember the team will be under considerable pressure to produce an impressive version for the cutoff date) Avid will in all honesty have to advise us "Pay up, but don't install the latest version yet".
>

This kind of stuff on public forums really isnt the right way to do things or professional, IMHO. This HUGE rush to try and impress and rope in people with the subscription deadline looming is backfiring, and the continued weaknesses of the development teams keeps popping up, and becomes more and more evident.

Yet your tweet tries to say otherwise, and that simply isnt fair--please dont mislead people, as Im sure it ISNT intentional.

Just my opinion, and YMMV.

Thanks Bob

If you wish to quote me that's fine, but you may as well use my name!

You describe me as a "staunch supporter". Most presumptious of you, and demonstrably not true - as proved by that quote. I do try to be constructive wherever possible though. For instance, I have plenty of ideas how the Ribbon could be improved :-)

Recently you wanted to believe that anything good in Sibelius 8 was a result of work already in hand before Finsbury Park closed. Now you can't accept that work may already be under way on the next release but one. There is no logic in your constant attacks. And what is worse, no undercurrent of good humour.

I've got a gig in Northampton tomorrow, so you can have the stage to yourself. Enjoy!

Not necessary for the point I was making. I wasn't trying to get anyone in trouble, just making a point

Well since of late you like to snottily criticize my grammar, maybe you might learn how to spell..don't use the big words though like presumptuous--you're simply NOT capable;-)

And not at all "pre·sump·tu·ous" (take notes, Payne:)..you earned the nickname "Pom Poms Payne" for all your staunch support of late, but..as usual, your fence sitting thing comes into play and now you're on the other side. You play BOTH sides, so you can say you were right, WHATEVER happens.
You did this SOO much during the Save Sibelius campaign, NO ONE took you seriously.

The usual:)

(And you're STILL ranting and crying about the ribbon..and Apple..etc..NOT constructive at all.)

>Recently you wanted to believe that anything good in Sibelius 8 was a result of work already in hand before Finsbury Park closed.

Laurence--may I make one small suggestion? Please try and stay with the truth, and speak slower as your words are muffled...you know THAT happens when you speak out of your a--.!!

This has been explained--and was also shared by YOU--too many times to be repeated. You're simply not worth it. Nice try at trolling though -;)

>Now you can't accept that work may already be under way on the next release but one.

OMG..is THAT what you got out of my post? Please..say it isnt so- and tell me you're just PLAYING dumb here--or trolling.
Read it again..slowly, and look up dem big words!!;-)

>There is no logic in your constant attacks.

Last few 'attacks' have been yours Payne...see above. And as for logic, I'll use smaller words you can spell and pronounce. Maybe the logic will be MUCH more evident then. Thanks!

>And what is worse, no undercurrent of good humour.

OMG--You hide all your nastiness behind things like ;-) and name calling etc such..and you're NOT funny at all. (OOPS sorry if that hurt your feelings!;)

Now I answered Laurence''s post in the way hes been doing to mine, starting trouble, and I tried reporting it, more than once pointing it out with no response.
Since NOTHING has been done, I'll answer in kind now like this, and of course people will say "We don't like when you and Laurence bicker etc"..well Ive tried to point out who starts, and didn't reply here until now.

Since nothing was done, Ill reply as warranted as it seems to be ok.

But in reality something should have been done, with my complaint, so we DON'T have stuff like THIS.

(Then again that may be too "presumptious" on my part!:)

Thanks Bob

So, with 8.4's development going on, I'm guessing that 8.3 is being released soon? I could be wrong though.

It would seem that way, though I have a feeling its been delayed due to the Reset Design changing accidentals bug, and not wanting to leave a long trail of --as Laurence Payne put it above--

It shouldn't come as a surprise to know that we're working on future releases of Sibelius.

This thread has sunk pretty low even by recent standards in terms of the courteous treatment of fellow users. I've never had to take action as a moderator in the past and I'd really rather not start now. Please stop.

I'm here to answer questions about Sibelius, as ever.

Joe, regarding Sibelius 8.3, can you please give us a rough estimate when it is going to be released? Also, regarding the plugin bug, will it be fixed in the latest update?

Thanks.

What plugin bug are you referring to? The accidentals-change-during-reset-design problem is not one involving plugins as far as I know.

Hi Greg,

Yup, we fixed it early last week. It will be included in 8.3.0.

Thanks so much and I couldnt agree more..FINALLY something has been done, and for my part I welcome that its stopped. My apologies for my part in it, and Im thrilled its finally been addressed.

No surprise at all Joe, and I felt it was pretty clear that WASNT the point of this post. It gave the impression to me, and others that the versions of Sib were just rolling out fine and dandy, and Im sorry that just isnt the case. Its all been written above.

>Yup, we fixed it early last week. It will be included in 8.3.0.

Thats good to hear--maybe it, and stuff like it should possibly be released as an update release for 8.2, or whatever the present version is, and not be delayed and done as a feature of the next update??

Thanks Bob

If 8.3 comes out before the June on board or not date...no harm, no fowl. Otherwise it screws the early perpetual adopters like myself (June 16th) that decide to drop the perpetual route.

Fwiw, I think it's a positive sign that Sam / Joe and team are already working on version 8.4 -- it shows that they are looking to the future beyond the issues which will be dealt with in 8.3.

You can quibble about how big or small the improvements are and which of the Ideascale suggestions are long overdue in implementing, but at the least it shows that my $89 per year is going somewhere.

I agree--this is part of what I was referring to above:

IMHO since it was fixed early last week those who are using Sib 8 should have already gotten the fix, as for example an 8.2.1 release. This goes back to what another poster wrote above that "they seem to be including rather too many unfinished and poorly-tested changes".

And this is what this entire thread was about.

Thanks Bob
