Hi there! I wrote a piece for 4 voices. The default sound for playback and sound files has lots of reverb and it's difficult to hear the individual parts, so I'd like to change it to a different sound. I've tried selecting each stave and editing instrument, but that didn't work. I've also tried turning off the reverb using the mixer, but that didn't change the sound either. Can someone please help? I am a very new Sibelius user, so if you could walk me through each step, that would be wonderful. Thanks in advance.
Did you install Sibelius 7.5 from DVD-ROM disks, or from a download from Avid?
If from DVD-ROM disks, then there are four Sounds installers to run, one on each of the four DVD-ROM disks.
If from download, then return to your download account on http://my.avid.com/ and follow the link to "My products and Subscriptions", then download "Sibelius Sounds 7.5" for your platform: Mac or Win. It is a huge download and will take many hours. The installation method depends on the platform (Mac or Win).
If it is Windows, the download is a .ZIP archive, which you first need to unzip (right-click on the downloaded file, select "Extract All"), then run the extracted installer.
It will not entirely fix your problem of distinguishing the vocal voices: that is best done by using the Sibelius Mixer to re-assign the instrument for each staff to something more distinguishable, such as clarinet, oboe, and so on.
In the score attached above, there is a further problem that the singer named "Amy" is assigned to a Tenor instrument, and is shown to be singing some very low bass notes well below a Tenor's range: down as far as D2 at one point.

Hi Richard, thanks so much for all your help. I installed Sibelius Sounds 7.5 and I was able to change the instrumentation, which helps a lot. I do have one more question. I originally wrote the tenor part with the treble clef 8v down, then transposed it to a regular treble clef, since it's easier for me to read that way. But playback is now playing the tenor part an octave lower than it's written. Do you know how I might fix that? Thanks again.
Sibelius ignores modifications such as down-8, or up-8, to clefs. Instead, transpositions are specific to the Instrument definition. The Tenor singer Instrument has a built-in octave-down transposition, and a staff with a Tenor singer Instrument should essentially only be used for Tenor singers.
I suggest that you un-do the octave transposition that you performed yourself, as it is duplicating the built-in octave-down transposition of the Tenor singer instrument.

On the Home tab, select Plug-ins. You should find "Export Each Staff as Audio in the drop down list.
I can't remember if this is a shipping plug-in. If you need to install it, you can find instructions for doing so in section 1.25 of the Reference Guide. You can find the Reference Guide by selecting File and then Help.

OK, so when I go to file and click on Plug-Ins, my choices are Install Plug-Ins, Edit Plug-Ins, Show Plug-In Trace Window, and ManuScript Language Reference. When I go into Edit Plug-Ins, I can find the "Export Each Staff as Audio" Plug-In, but I can't figure out how to run it and apply it to my score. Help? Thanks!
