This is a problem that happens a lot but I never understand why. I cannot get the bar numbers to show up in the first page of longer score. I cannot post the score here because it's on its way to the publisher from a composer I engraved it for.

I attached a screenshot.

There are no repeats bar lines or other kind of repeat symbols used in the full score, but I moved parts around using the System Passage selecting option, by cutting those bars and inserting them somewhere else. Can this give this bar disappearing problem?

There is really no way for use to tell what is happening without access to an actual score, not a screenshot. Could you use the Export Selection As Score plugin on the same music you screenshot, see if it has the problem, and if so, post it here? Use Disguise Score on it if you prefer.

This is nearly always caused by a faulty repeat structure. Look for incorrect use of closed/open repeat bars, lack of matching repeat barlines, broken ds/dc structures etc.

Presumably the page you showed us is not the complete score? Unless, of course, you've turned Bar Numbers off in Engraving rules. It's not the sort of music that would usually HAVE bar numbers.

I was able to fix it, the cause was an Ossia Above that I used during a single bar in the back of the score. The bar number also disappeared in this system because it's now placed above the invisible part of the Ossia (the ossia bar is at the end of this system).

The solution was to delete the Ossia staff in the Add or Remove Instruments dialogue and using the Bar Number Change to make the bar numbers at the start of the score visible again. After that I added the single bar ossia again, all the bar numbers stayed visible after this.

I don't like how ossia is used by adding a new instrument staff to the full score, it should only be added to the system where that bar is placed. Is this posible?

I found a way to keep the bar number always visible when using an ossia staff, by changing its placement in the Engraving Rules window. It's easy when you think about it, just a matter of assigning it to the new upper piano staff (the ossia is now the 1st staff), see screenshot:

There should be a better solution than this. When an ossia covers a page break, then the bar number is below the ossia. Anybody?

I find myself increasingly unhappy with the way Ossias mess up the formatting.
