Hello!

I've been wondering if there's a way to add a sliding sound on strings - the sound where a person is slowly sliding their finger up a string from note to note for various musical reasons.

If there's a way to do this in Sibelius, I would love to know! And if not, or if there is an alternative, I'd like to hear that too.

You can try the guitar slide (as attached) on the second keypad. You can't control the speed and it can be quite unpleasant.

Isn't the gliss line supposed to do this? That sounds horrible too. I've never understood the linear, early, late option. They all playback the same for me.

Try Bob Zawalich's "Line Between Notes" plugin. I use it so often that it has its own shortcut on my system. As always, Bob has thoughtfully included several options, such as line style and playback options. Have attached a simple violin octave gliss created with the plugin.

I think you have to have a fairly long item such as an extended rall. before there is any perceptible effect from "early" or "late".

One advantage of the slide from the keypad is that it stays with the notes better than a line will. Playback is problematic and it only works with adjacent notes but notationally it is the easiest way to get slides between notes.

Lines Between Notes is intended to position lines better than the Sib default of creating a line and dragging it, and it does this pretty well.The only playback feature it offers is to silence the line, otherwise it does not change the default playback on the line.

Yes, I should have said playback option is essentially on/off. I often use the keypad slide as well, but when I want to vary the line style, I'll use the plugin.
