For whatever reason, whenever I use the explode function in Sibelius to take chords that I've inputted via MIDI keyboard and arrange them say for strings or big band, Sibelius hangs up on "cleaning up" dialog box, leaving it to crash if I do anything and then have to manually input each voice, which becomes extremely time consuming, annoying, and unnecessary if this worked right.

Used to only happen on OSX, now it happens on both Windows and OSX. Tried reinstalling Sibelius in both cases, but hasn't fixed anything. I don't ever recall it ever freezing like this wen using the explode function before, I use it quite often.

I surprisingly haven't found any info on it from searching the internet, which is making me wonder what it is about my computer that's making it do this.

I think this is a known issue, and I think it's fixed in Sibelius 8.1.

With earlier versions of Sibelius, try completely closing the score, and re-opening it, immediately before use of the Explode function, and similar plug-ins. If I remember correctly, the issue is something to do with the depth of the "Undo" stack, which depends on past editing history since opening the score file.

Reinstallation will not help.

Thanks Robin, I will try that.

I upgraded to 8 awhile ago and had more issues with it crashing and such so I went back to 7 which for the most part has served me well for years.
