Sib. 7.0: Add Fingering to Notes plugin issues (2 of 2)

The Add Fingering to Notes plugin, which ships with Sibelius 7 and later, is a great way to add fingering that will track the positions of notes. This is especially nice for guitar notation. Daniel Spreadbury wrote a Sibelius Blog post about this (http://www.sibeliusblog.com/tips/let-your-fingers-do-the-walking-with-add-fingering-to-notes-plug-in/) which serves as an excellent introduction.
There is a layout problem in the Options dialog for the shipping non-English versions of this plugin in Sibelius 7, 7.5, and 8.0. The edit box for fingering text style had somehow been dragged on top of the edit box for finger 4. If you bring up the Options dialog you will see something like this: (screenshot 1, French Options problem)
It is not actually a problem if you only want to use the built-in maps and not change options. You can even edit settings as long as you do not have to change the text at position 4; use the edit box at that position to change the text style name.
If you want to actually fix it, you can do so by editing the plugin. This is a bit scary, but it can be done without changing any code. If you make a mistake it is pretty easy to recover from, but please be aware you do this at your own risk, and I disavow any liability if it does not work out!
So if you are still interested, this is what you can do.
1. Edit the plugin with File >Plug-ins> Edit Plug-in. You will need to find the plug-in, and in this case it will be in the category that translates to “Text” in English, and has a name that is a translation of “Add Fingering To Notes”. This is what it looks like in French: (screenshot 2, edit plugin)
Sibelius will tell you that you are making a copy of a read-only file, which is what you want to do, so say OK. We will change a copy of the plugin file so the original is untouched. Sibelius will run our copy as its plugin.
In the editor, double click in the OptionDialog name in the Dialog section in the upper right (screenshot 3, edit dialog)
You will then see something that looks like the Options dialog window. Here is an excerpt. Find the edit box rectangle next to the 4, click on it, and then drag it to the left. You should see another edit box under it. Drag the box so it is under the “Text style” text and above the checkbox. The exact position is not critical. If you make a mistake, cancel then try again. Hit OK to finish editing the dialog, then OK again to finish editing the plugin. (screenshots 4 move overlapping and 5 move edit box).
It should now work correctly. If it does not, edit the plugin again, or give up and delete the copy. If you go to File >Plug-in > Edit Plug-in and choose the plugin again, it should say that it is a user copy. Click on the Delete button, which will delete the copy you made, reverting back to the shipping plugin file. (screenshot 6 delete plugin).
