Sib. 7.5: System Separators aligned by negative values

Has anybody figured out how to put negative values into the field for system separators? I have Sibelius 7.5 on a Mac and it's not letting me do it. (Engraving rules / Instruments / System Separators). I'd like to use my old setting of -3 space from the left margin.

I keep reading elsewhere that it's possible to use negative values, and in earlier versions of Sibelius I was able to do this.

I prefer the negative aligned separators, even if they jut into my margins, because they stay out of the way of bar numbers and lyrics, and they're overall more attention grabbing from the point of view of not skipping systems while reading.

Looks like you do this in Edit Symbols/General. A value of -2 spaces puts left separator halfway across left margin. But be warned: right separators move likewise left.

Aha! I've only ever used left separators so this is perfect. Thanks!

PS. Any idea why the field for separator positioning within engraving rules won't accept the negative value anymore?

I didn't know that this was possible in earlier versions. Maybe the developers deemed it inappropriate to invade the space outside staff margins for this particular object. Who knows how a developer's mind works? ;-)

Geniuses. I'm grateful for the amount of things I can do without asking for help, and now for this forum, which I've only ever thought to post to, after MANY years using Sibelius. Thanks again. —R
