Sib. 7.5: Moving shortcuts to Sib 8
Posted by Richard Vitale - 25 Nov 07:30AM (edited 25 Nov 07:35AM)
Using the app Keycue to store my most used shortcuts, I find 59 of them.

Is there a way to transfer these shortcuts from vs. 7 to 8?

When you install Sib 8 you get to option to 'Copy Support Files'
If you select this, it will copy all the files in the 'app data' folder like shortcuts/configurations/house styles etc.

For shortcuts, you then need to select your user copy in:

File>Preferences>Keyboard Shortcuts> Current Feature Set (user copy)

If you didn't choose the 'Copy Support Files' option at installation, someone will be along shortly with the exact details of the folder to copy on Mac o/s. You will still need to select your User Copy of shortcuts as above.

I'm trying the trial now to sort things out.

I didn't see an option to 'Copy Support Files' though.

Pls someone tell me how to copy shortcuts to Sib 8, thx!

Is your previous Sibelius version installed on the same Mac?

If it isn't, then you don't get an option to Copy Support Files, because there are no support files to copy.

To copy keyboard short-cuts manually, see the section "User-editable files" on page 26 of the Sibelius 8 Reference.

Thx Robin,

It was Migration Assistant to a new Mac and I don't recall the option to Copy Support Files.

I'm cleaning things up now and many thx!

Hi Robin,

Sorting things out slowly.

In the attachment you can see the Word Menu in 7.5 doesn't match the one in Sib 8 even though I've moved the Folder over to: /Users/username/Library/ApplicationSupport/Avid/Sibelius

(This in itself was confusing at the Folder didn't say "Sibelius 8" but rather "Sibelius" which initially led me to believe it may have been from a version previous to Sib 7.)

Shortcuts for F4 and F5 are missing.

Is this something I should re-input or maybe I need to activate something in Sibelius (as I did for my Chord Symbols under Text>Chord Symbols>Edit).

Thx and let me know your thoughts on this.

It looks as if you had some extra Text Styles defined under Sibelius 7.5 which you do not yet have defined in Sibelius 8. These would be somewhere in a House Style or Manuscript Paper.

Thx Robin, that . . . plus making sure I opened a file with the same House Style helped!
