Sib. 7.5: systems
Posted by Ole Bollom - 23 Nov 11:24AM
Hello,

I'm making a score of 28 bars. It comes up with two systems of 14 bars, but when I try do change to three systems, something is happening. See enclosed score.

Your attached score has two systems, each with 14 bars.

Select the barline at the end of bar 10, press Enter. Now do the same for the barline at B. Does this do what you want?

What were you doing? What was happening?

This is the usual problem that occurs if you have been previously dragging the left-hand of a system in or out of the left page margin: if the score is afterwards re-formatted, the gaps caused by the dragging are retained by the bar in question, at its new position.

To repair the damage, either:

- select the barline immediately after the gap, and then "Reset Position"; or
- select the bar after the gap, open the Inspector, and set "Gap before bar" to zero.

And then, in future, try never to drag barlines in or out of page margins: use the "Staff Margins" feature instead.
