Sib. 7.1.3: Plugin for crescendo playback
Posted by sodajack - 18 Sep 04:57PM
Greetings,

I have tried using the plug in for crescendo / decrescendo playback and it works well. However, I have noticed that it "weakens" the instrument down the road. For example, if my decrescendo goes from FF to P, ending on measure 100, if the same instrument on the same staff enters in again on measure 110, at a dynamic setting of FF again, it sounds an awful lot quieter. I can't seem to get around this.

Am I using the plugin correctly, in terms of my hairpin placement, etc? Has anyone come across this?

Jack

You shouldn't need the plugin. It was for earlier playback devices that didn't recognize volume changes. Just use hairpins. Adjust their playback effect in the Inspector as necessary.

Thank you, and I can see that it works. For some reason I was thinking it wasn't, and when I just applied the hairpins, it didn't, but now it does. Maybe the dong needs to be restarted? I appreciate your feedback.

I am fully in favour of restarting your dong as often as possible!

The plugin was a bodge. Use hairpins correctly and you should be OK.

Hairpins don't work on long sustained notes for me, but then I only use XGM for playback.

I used this plugin for an older score. Now I would like to remove the text that shows up on all the hairpins. Is there a way to select those textcodes all at once and delete?

Select All, then filter for text containing the character '~', then hit delete.
