You'll only need the first few letters! It's particularly convenient in Windows 10, on the Taskbar, right next to the Start Menu. See attached screenshot (which was made with the Snipping Tool). But, back to your original question: I solved this initially, after an in-place Windows 8.1 > 10 upgrade, for the onboard audio of an Acer laptop computer, with this: http://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/en_US/Troubleshooting/en417515 Later, I went to Device Manager, removed the audio device and allowed it to reinstall. If you want to do this you should: a. take a safety copy of the old portaudio file first; b. extract the zip file into one of your own folders, and then copy it into the destination location: Windows will then prompt you for Administrator password. BUT FIRST: Laurence, in his previous post, recommended that the FIRST thing you should try is to use Device Manager to remove the audio device, and then allow it to re-install. Have you done that? That was the first program I tried after the installation. I found that the sound was muted on the computer. I'm not sure how NotePerformer works, but perhaps Ole needs to get Sibelius working with Sibelius sounds and default settings first. In the Playback Devices page, change Noteperformer to Sibelius 7 sounds and make sure Sibelius Player is listed as an active device. It seems to me that no Sibelius Player = no sound. Everyone's experience is different, but I've always found Direct Sound (DS) to work better than WASPI(except W8, but returned in W8.1). If this installation of Sibelius never had Sibelius sounds installed but only used Noteperformer, then perhaps association with it was broken by the update. Repair via Programs and Features (in Control Panel) or a re install of Sibelius might be in order. Sibelius is such a finicky program. It gets upset if you sneeze, sometimes. I'm not so good at the technological side of using a PC and you are using many words in English that are unknown for me. I have now renamed the portaudio-file from .dll to .bak. Then I downloaded the portaudio_x64_no_WASAPI.zip file. I used my Express Zip File Compression program and extracted it to a Sibelius folder on my PC, but as far as I can see, it's still a zip-file.
