Sib. First: Remove Live Playback Data
Posted by sshock - 31 Aug 06:59AM
How can I remove live playback data (live velocity, live duration, etc.)?

I recorded some measures with flexi-time and then cleaned them up to my liking, but later discovered during playback that some notes were syncopated in funny ways or not sounding for the full duration.

I'm about 99% sure this is due to live playback data that is attached to individual notes. But how do I get rid of that data?

I already know that I can turn off the Live Playback option, but I don't want anyone (myself included) to ever hear the messed up playback on my score just because they happen to have "Live Playback" turned on.

I searched these forums and discovered that you can remove this data from the inspector. Well, Sibelius First doesn't have an inspector.

If Sibelius First is going to allow live playback data to be recorded, then it needs to provide a way to get rid of it too. I shouldn't have to rewrite my entire score to get rid of it.

Please tell me there is a way to reset/remove the live playback data in Sibelius First!

Thanks,
Phillip

You need the full product, not "First" to remove Live Playback data directly.

I suppose that you could try exporting the score into Sibelius 2 format, and then re-importing it, but watch out for other changes as well. Use different filenames so that you don't overwrite what you have already got.

Hi! I have the same problem and I have Sibelius 7.5 Full. How do you do that in the full product?

Thank you!

I've also run into that when attempting to use Flexi-time to input notes. Even in the advanced filter I didn't see anything for filtering MIDI commands. The best I came up with was to select one, then SHFT+CTRL+A to select all MIDI controller commands on that staff. Repeat for every system as needed (Now that I think about it, I suppose I could have switch to Panorama view to get them all in one sweep). Is there an easier way?

I don't have Sib. 7 Full but I have read that you select the note(s), open the Inspector, and do something with the Live Velocity checkbox.

In full Sib 7, turn off Live playback for individual objects ( or a selected group) in the Inspector. To turn off all Live Playback for a score go to Play > Live Playback in the Ribbon..

Note that Live Playback data is not made of MIDI messages. Those are text objects that start with a tilde (~). To get rid of those, you can use the Advanced Filter to filter text starting with a tilde, and then delete them, but be aware that if you have any other hidden text that starts with a tilde (somewhat unlikely, but certainly not impossible), they will get picked up as well.

The downloadable Filter Other plugin that will filter MIDI messages if that becomes an issue.
