At present, I am running Sibelius 7.5 on Windows 7.
I want to purchase a Mac mini (1TB hard drive, Dual core 2.6GHz CPU,16GB RAM).
Will I be able to use my Sibelius 7.5 discs to load Sibelius onto my new Mac?
On the Mac, I also want to run Kontakt Player using the Vienna Sound Library Orchestra.
Will Sibelius be able to locate Kontakt Player?
(On my Windows computer, Sibelius cannot locate Aria Player, and I am unable to use GPO sounds as a result).
I would very much appreciate it if anyone can provide answers to the two questions above.

Perhaps I should have been more specific. Having installed Sibelius on one computer, I was actually asking whether another computer would accept another installation, or whether I would receive a message telling me that, as I've installed the programme already, I can't install it again. Simply that.
Regarding my second question: Your reply, "Why don't you fix that?" leaves a little to be desired. I would fix it if I knew how to. As I said, Sibelius cannot locate my Aria player. It doesn't show up in the list of options.If you can't help with that problem, Robin, perhaps it would be best if you left it up to someone who can answer it. However, I appreciate your position because, having seen so many questions regarding using Sibelius 7 with GPO, and not having seen a coherent solution to the problem, it would seem that Sibelius 7 and GPO cannot be used together. Therefore, if you are able to make that happen, why don't you tell all of us how you make them work together. Then we would all be in awe of you.
Sorry to be so dumb, but I recently won an international composers' composition competition. (The composition was created on Sibelius 7). But perhaps all the brain power I used in the composition process has rendered me incapable of matching your very high standards. My sincere apologies for that. I do beg your pardon.

The license terms permit the user to have Sibelius activated on a maximum of two computers simultaneously, for the user's own personal use.

Because no information at all has been provided about the issue that would enable a problem to be identified. If a poster wants help with an issue, it's best to define the issue fully, and provide full details of the context.
Is this on 64-bit or 32-bit Windows? If Windows is 64-bit, is the Sibelius version 32-bit or 64-bit?
Where on hard disk are the ARIA VST DLLs, arising from the GPO installation? Were they installed at their default location, or were they installed at a custom location during the installation process?
Have you copied (COPY, not drag-and-move) the ARIA Player VST DLLs from their installation location to a location where Sibelius looks for VST DLLs? The default location where Sibelius looks for VST DLLs is defined in the "Folders" button of "Audio Engine Options". The default Sibelius VST search locations are:
For 64-bit Sibelius on 64-bit Windows: C:\Program Files\Avid\VSTPlugins\
For 32-bit Sibelius on 64-bit Windows: C:\Program Files (x86)\Avid\VSTPlugins\
For 32-bit Sibelius on 32-bit Windows: C:\Program Files\Avid\VSTPlugins\
The default installation location of the ARIA Player VST DLLs (by the GPO installer) is:
C:\Program Files\vstplugins\Garritan\
The 32-bit DLLs have "x86" in their name. The 64-bit DLLs have "x64" in their name. 64-bit Sibelius can use only 64-bit DLLs. 32-bit Sibelius can use only 32-bit DLLs.
Once you have located the ARIA Player VST DLLs, then COPY (not drag-and-move) the DLLs of the appropriate architecture to the Sibelius VST search folder for that architecture.

You can install Sibelus on as many computers as you wish but you can only activate 2 instances at one time. So, you won't get a warning when installing - you will be told when trying to activate a 3rd instance that you already have 2 activated (or you get an error message)
Not being activated means you can't save anything - it's in 'trial' mode
If it's not finding Kontakt you need to look in:
Play>SetUp>Audio Engine Settings
Check that use Virtual Instruments is checked.

If you know where Kontakt is located you can scan the file.
Then restart.

Regarding Aria Player, I think I can now see where the problem lies.
Firstly, I am running 64-bit windows.
I have located the ARIA VST DLLs. (They are in C:\Program Files\vstplugins\Garritan\
There are two: “Aria Player VST x86.dll” and Aria Player Multi x86.dll”
Therefore, they are both 32-bit
It says here:
http://www.sibelius.com/helpcenter/64bit.html that Sibelius 7 is 64-bit.
So, that is why Sibelius 7 cannot locate my Garritan VST files. (Because, as Robin has pointed out, “64-bit Sibelius can use only 64-bit DLLs“, and my VSTs are 32-bit).
I must admit that it seems odd to me it was not pointed out, at the time when I purchased Sibelius 7, that being a 64-bit programme it would not be able to use Garritan VSTs which were 32-bit. (I wouldn’t have bought it if I had known that).
I am also rather bemused how you, Robin, are managing to use 32-bit Garritan with 64-bit Sibelius 7 ????? You must have a different magic want to the one I’ve got. LOL.
I had long suspected that there was a serious problem concerning Sibelius 7 and Garritan. Now, I know what it is. This is why I want to obtain Kontakt player with the Vienna sounds. I shall need a new computer to be able to do that, as I don’t think I can install any more memory into my present computer, although I’ll check with my computer guru. But maybe a Mac isn’t a good idea. Perhaps I should stick with Windows.

The version of ARIA Player that ships with GPO4 (which is ancient) is years out of date, and does not include a 64-bit player. You need to keep ARIA Player and ARIA Engine up to date (just like everything else). You can get the latest updates from:
You need at least version 1.111 of ARIA Player for 64-bit use. Later versions have fewer bugs, but some people have difficulties with updating to the newest version (it crashes). It doesn't crash for me, however.

I have now downloaded version 1.111 of Aria Player.
I then opened Sibelius 7, opened a score, and then went into play>playback devices>audio engine options.
I then clicked on "folders", and then "add".
I then followed the path C:\programe files\Garritan\Aria Player.
I then clicked "add new folder", and the I clicked OK.
Back in Sibelius, I clicked "rescan", and then closed Sibelius and restarted it.
Upon restart,in Play>Playback Devices, Aria Player and Aria Player Multi are now showing, but they are dimmed, so I cannot activate them.
In Audio Engine Options>folders, I now see "C:\Programme files\Avid\VSTPlugins" and also "C:\Programme files\Garritan\Aria Player".
If I click OK, nothing happens. If I click rescan, nothing happens.
Obviously, something is wrong. Has anyone got any ideas on what I should now do, apart from give up.

The playback configurations that ship with Sibelius (one of which you are looking at) cannot be altered or re-configured. If you wish to activate 3rd-party VSTs, then first you must create a custom Playback Configuration. Then you will be able to activate 3rd-party VSTs. Remember to SAVE the custom Playback Configuration.

I've now created a custom playback configuration. Before doing so, I read the relevant pages in the manual, watched videos, etc., so that I knew I would be doing everything precisely. Aria Player is now showing in the right hand window. I've chosen the correct soundset (Garritan Personal Orchestra 4), and have saved the configuration. When I click "play", there are no sounds. I've tries a rescan, but that makes no difference. (Sibelius 7 sounds play without any trouble).
This is why I'm reluctant to purchase a new computer, along with Kontakt 5 and the Vienna sounds, because I will go through the same steps as I did with Aria Player, and once I've done all that, there will be no sounds. That's will be an awful lot of money down the drain.
I am at a total loss to know what to do for the best, because Sibelius 7 can't seem to work with anything other than Sibelius 7 sounds.
People the world over have Sibelius working with many different VSTs, including ARIA, Kontakt, Play, Vienna, and so on. So it is far from the case that Sibelius will only work with Sibelius 7 Sounds.
In "Playback Devices", select ARIA in the right-hand column and click "Show", then attach a screen-shot of the ARIA VST Window that opens, preferably on one of its internal screens that shows the GPO sounds in use.

I’m sure that Sibelius works with many different VSTs. It’s just that I seem to be having so many problems with VSTs, that it becomes frustrating. However, I really appreciate your patience with me.
I’ve attached a screen grab of Aria Player as you requested, and as you will see, it’s empty!!
I’m wondering if the problem is being caused by the fact that I had my computer upgraded to Windows 7 in order to be able to run Sibelius 7, and I had another hard disc installed. The GPO sounds came with previous versions of Sibelius which I was running on Windows XP. So, I’ve got Sibelius 7 running on the Windows 7 side of the computer, but the GPO sounds are on the XP side. At least, that’s how it seems, but maybe I’m barking up the wrong tree here.

If, by that, you mean that the GPO sound library has never been installed under Windows 7, then that would explain the lack of sound from them. The installer sets up Windows registry entries that ARIA Player needs in order to find the sample library. Any installations done under Windows XP will no longer have any effect under Windows 7: it will be as if they never happened.

Yes, that's precisely what I mean. The GPO sound library has never been installed under windows 7. You've confirmed what I had been suspecting for some time now, so at least we've got to the root of the problem. Also, I'm now confident that this problem would not occur if I were to buy a new computer and install my copy of Sibelius 7 along with Kontakt 5 and the Vienna sound library, as they would all be installed under the same version of windows, or whatever other platform I eventually decide to opt for. So, thank you. That's cleared up any niggling doubts in my mind.
As far as using GPO with Sibelius 7 is concerned, it's now probably best if I contact Garritan to see what can be done with regard to downloading a GPO sound library for my windows 7. I'll have to register with their website, I suppose, as I am unable to find any other means of correcting the situation, which, I might add, should be readily available.
I will, however, just say that the same problem has probably been encountered with other Sibelius 7 users who must have upgraded to windows 7 in order to use Sibelius 7. I've read a number of reports of Sibelius 7 users not being able to use GPO with Sibelius 7. I'm not saying that this is your fault. On the contrary, it's something that was not addressed by Avid, and, as such, demonstrates their total lack of regard for their Sibelius customers. All Avid are really interested in is making money for themselves. As long as they do that, they couldn't give a damn!!!
