I have a early music SAB choral work from the cpdl library. An editor has put it into modern notation in p 3/4 time with bars. I would like to export it from the Photolite scan into a new Sibelius score without a fixed time signature and without bar lines. I tried using "other" but it didn't work.

In past experiences, even if I input the notes by hand, Sibelius gets very disturbed if there isn't a time signature and will put in a default one.

Is there anyway around this?

There is a section in the manual about early music notation starting on page 334.

You can use hidden time signatures or no time signature, just delete the one there. If you are thinking of having no barlines at all, the maximum stretch of music is the equivalent of a bar of 126/4. I know some early music uses 'tick' barlines although these are actually 'end of phrase' markers and how to do this is shown in the manual. You could set each phrase of the music to its own (hidden) TS or use irregular bars and tweak the look of the result (read the section on Free rhythm - Chapter 4.4) and p.190.

Whoops! only just saw that you are using 5. The page numbers i your manual will be different. I have 2 version 5 paper manuals.

P.62; P66; P95; P120; P151 are the page numbers in the first of these that comes to hand.
