When you move the inserted text items to see what you are typing into, do NOT move them by dragging or with the arrows. Instead, use the inspector's y value. In the attached, in bar 7, the mordent works exactly as it should. The reason bar one doesn't work is because the text on the Eb has ended up on the wrong part of the beat. This means that the MIDI instructions are happening in the wrong order and you get a hanging note. In bar 4 it was because you had only altered one of the MIDI messages, so you got two hanging notes.
Take a look at the 2nd attachment: In bar 8 I have inserted an F# and Eb as shown in bar 1, but used the mordent from the zymbol menu to insert a mordent. This mordent plays exactly as you wish, because the F# occurs in the bar already. You don't have to mess about with MIDI messages.
