has anyone got a solution to this?
I have Sibelius 7.5 installed and running on my Windows 7 laptop, then downloaded the 1.3GB 7.5.1 update. when I click on icon (after unzipping the file)the Sibelius751installer runs, says it is extracting Sibx64setup.exe and when it has done so goes quiet. Nothing more happens, there are no open screens or prompts, and I am stuck!
Any ideas would be welcome...

1. Give it time;
2. Check for the installer having opened a dialogue waiting for your input, hidden behind another window.

Thanks Robin. I have waited (the hard disk is active for a couple of minutes after the last screen disappears), and I have looked for dialogue screens but there is nothing to be found...
Have tried three times now, each time the same.

Have you tried actually running SIbelius? See what version you now have.
Try the download again. There's always a possibility of corruption.
Turn off your antivirus/antimalware before you install. That's often a blocker.

Thanks Mike: yes, Sibelius still runs as 7.5 not 7.5.1
Will try a fresh download, and turn off the antivirus (although it has never been a problem before, including 7.5)

Can you tell us which version of windows you are on? Let us know if you are successful or come back to us to see if we can come up with more ideas.

Thanks Mike, sorted!
I tried the existing download with AV turned off, no go.
I downloaded the update again and tried with AV on, no go.
New download and AV off - this time it worked.
Whether that means the download was corrupted or the AV was blocking installation, both or neither, i don't know, but it is now up and running so thanks for your suggestions.

Incidentally, i got a reply from Avid support today:
'Please try right clicking on the .zip file and then choose Extract All. Then follow the instructions to extract the folder. Windows should create a new folder so enter this and then run the installer.

Sometimes when just double clicking on a reasonably large zip file the extraction does not take place.'

In Windows 7 there doesn't seem to be an Extract All option, just Open.

Yes, there is. Any .zip file, when right-clicked, should offer "Extract all..." as an option. This is the method for unpacking ZIP files which is built-in to Windows (from Windows XP upwards, I think).

If you are not seeing a right-click "Extract all" option, then check that you are right-clicking on a file with a .zip extension to its name.

If right-clicking a .zip file does not produce the "Extract all..." option, then it is possible that some third-party ZIP software has been installed, and over-ridden the Windows defaults. In which case, you should know what that software is, and use that software's method for expanding ZIP files.

You're right (of course). Have changed the file association back to Windows Explorer and now get 'Extract All' as an option.
I tried both WinAce and Explorer for extracting the Sib751 Installer before coming to the forum, but didn't know about the right click option, and don't know whether it would have helped the original download as i replaced it and all is well.
