Sib. 7.5: Stems
Posted by Jennifer S Bell - 27 Jul 08:36AM
Sometimes in barbershop harmony two parts sing the same note and this is indicated by an upward stem as well as a downward stem. Is someone able to help me achieve this please?

Also, sometimes the singer singing the top part sings notes that are lower than those sung by the other part and the stem directions indicate that. I am finding it particularly difficult to input these notes so that the parts can be read correctly by the singers. Help please.

Attaching an example: a crossover note in the first bar and a shared note at the start of the second bar.

Input the stem-up part in Voice 1 (or 3).
Input the stem-down part in Voice 2 (or 4).
Sibelius will look after everything, and you can have stem-up and stem-down notes on the same pitch.
