DEAR SIBELIUS
Posted by lj - 27 Jun 05:51PM
First, I saw that the new Sibelius came out YAY!

According to the Sibelius Website, Sibelius 8 or "Sibelius"is $89.00 for current Sibelius users (I use 7.5). Will this be a one time payment, or a subscription for 89 dollars / year, month,?
Also, for other customers reading this. Is it worth getting?

$89 now for one year's support, then $89 per year thereafter if you want to keep up-to-date.

See http://www.avid.com/US/products/sibelius#Licensing for details.

$89.00 plus any applicable taxes per year. so it is not a onetime payment if you expect to stay on this train.

As an early adopter I would say wait your year grace and see what they come up with (that is worth it $).
That's the advice this canary in the mine advises. heck, even Sam and Joe gave pretty much the same advice when they were touting Sibelius 8 to us.

literally from what i can understand sibelius 8 is 7.5 with more bugs and a load of stuff that not many can use unless you have surface 3 and windows and a high res monitor, there is no updates to any music engraving sounds are the same, wait don't buy it now unless anything i mentioned if of use to you, its certainly not for me.

It's not even a "load of stuff", it's almost nothing. I guess it would be one thing if there were "lots" of new features I couldn't use, but there are very few. It's Sibelius 7.5 with a scribble maker.

I wonder for how many years it will remain $89. At first MS Office was around $70 subscription a year. This price has increased annually ever since to around $99 now.

I guess in 5 years from now the Sibelius annual updates subscription will be $200.

...or will it be $89 for ever?
