Sib. 7.1.3: Page range in booklet printing
Posted by Timothy Jackson - 16 May 10:25AM
Hello all. This is my first post after over 15 years as a Sibelius user. I've searched the forum for similar queries, but can't find anything quite the same!

I have two related issues to do with booklet printing:

1. I am trying to print a large set of parts, all in booklet form, onto A3 paper, with two A4-size pages side-by-side. However, as there are only two pages of music (effectively pages 2 and 3) per part, one side of every sheet is blank. In previous versions of Sibelius I was able to choose to print just the 'Inward Pages' which would have prevented the near-comic sight and time-wasting-frustration of watching many pages of paper go through the printer to have the blank side 'printed' before turning the whole lot over to print the actual music on the other side!

Is there any way of just printing the 'Inward Pages' like I used to be able to do?

2. If I am printing a large booklet and something goes wrong with just one page of the printout (ink smudge or similar) is there any way of just printing a replacement for the single page which went wrong, rather than print the whole lot again?

Thank you so much for your help!

Tim.

1. In the case where there are only 2 pages, do not select "Booklet", instead select "2 pages per side".

2. No.

You could export to pdf and use a pdf viewer with booklet printing features eg. free pdfxchange editor (Windows) or http://pdfbooklet.sourceforge.net/
(Windows/Linux).
So you would have more control.

Thanks to you both, for your quick replies!

'2 pages per side' is perfect for this job so that's helpful.

But I fail to see how having to export a PDF into another app in order to be able to do something which Sibelius used to do perfectly well by itself is progress!

Cheers!

When designing Sibelius 7 it seems (erroneously) to have been thought that if you used ANY features of the Microsoft Ribbon interface you had to use ALL of it. Trouble is, much of it was left half-implemented.

Never mind. There's a way round this one. Let's focus on more important things that DON'T have a work-around, like colliding multi-voice rests.
