I am trying frantically to upgrade to 7.5. What is the MOST DIRECT WAY to get assistance? I don't know what my system ID is. I was given system and activation ID for 7.5, but inserting that info doesn't work. In fact, I get an "invalid" no matter what I do. Feel like I am getting the run around from Avid. Interesting that the version box shows 7.5 when it hasn't even been installed yet.

It says to go to File/Help/Backstage Page to find ID, but I don't even know where to find that.

If the version shows as 7.5, it seems to have installed. You're just having problems with the activation.

"System ID" sounds like something unique to your particular computer. It isn't - it's just part of the two-part registration/activation system.

Are you trying to enter the hyphens in the Activation ID? Maybe confusing letter O with number 0? The problem could be as simple as that.

In Sibelius, the first Menu is called File. At the bottom of that menu is Help. That is where you can view your registration details, and other information.

Have you made contact with the Registration Support team? Although general Avid support is terrible, the Registration Support guys are efficient. They should be getting up to speed again after the Easter holidays now.

So, it is not installed. Although it acted like it was a 30 day trial. But then it asked for the Activation ID. I plugged in the one they gave me, but they say it's invalid.

And when you say to go to Sibelius, do you mean open up Sibelius 7? Another words, not online?

Ah! I'm in! Registered and all. Thanks for your help. I'm not sure how I did it, but it came up and, yes, Laurence, I mistook a letter for something else in the long activation ID which of course made all the difference. Whew. Really wish it could all be simplified. These are the times I look at other programs I've learned with fondness. But we can now put our Sibelius scores in the cloud now? I need to see what the upgrades are...I had an initial problem with Sibelius closing down when I switched from the monitor (where I work on my scores) to another monitor to google something or write an email. It was suggested that I upgrade. So we'll see if it solves that problem.

Now you need to run the Sounds update (no need to redo the huge base installation, there's a 7.5 update patch, available same place as you downloaded the main program), and get the Bass Clarinet Patch from http://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/en_US/troubleshooting/Unable-to-play-back-some-scores-in-Sibelius-7-5-problem-with-Bass-Clarinet-patch

So I thought I updated the Sounds, but it looks like I need to put the file somewhere. How do I do that? I can find the Sibelius file, but now for Sound. I have the bass clarinet ready to go, too, if there is a problem.

The Sounds updater is a program you run. It knows where the Sounds library is on your computer and does its stuff transparently.

The Bass Clarinet Patch is a kludge :-) You unzip the downloaded file and copy it to a particular folder on your computer. Full instructions are provided. Are you having difficulty understanding them?

I'm always slow at stuff like this. Will get back you most likely - am under a time crunch to get a piece finished and will see about the new Sounds library when I reach a composition deadline. Will probably be asking questions from this thread! So, will be talking to you in the near future!
