Sib. 7.5: Changing order of instruments
Posted by S Q Wye - 24 Mar 07:21AM
Hi . . . I have a score with several movements, with each movement starting on a new page with special page breaks.

Can one change the order of instruments in one of the sections after a special break (or other break), or does the order of instruments remain fixed throughout the score regardless of breaks?

With thanks

It is pretty rare to change the order of instruments in a single work. Is it that you are actually changing the order or that some instruments don't play in all movements?

You could add duplicate staves for the instruments you want to reposition, then apply hide empty staves when you are done. But separate scores for each movement is probably the best solution.

I suppose you could use:
Home Tab > Change Instruments icon if you had to . . . after selecting the correct number of bars and then HIDE the change back to the original (or different) instruments if necessary.

That would work OK for the score, Richard, but not for the dynamic or extracted parts, tho' it might be possible by making a new multi-instrument/staff part, hiding the bits you don't want. All too complicated for me.

Yes, more than I would do, unless perhaps if it was very short movements, a page apiece.

Yes, I get your drift now Adrian.

The parts would have to be passed around unless they were played by people doubling :-)
