Sib. 7.5: crashing for unknown reason? help me please!
Posted by Rémi St-Jacques - 16 Feb 08:40PM
It has been three days now. Everytime I'm clicking inside a score, Sibelius crashes.

It goes like this:

-I run Sibelius;

-I select any of my files, or create a new one;

-file opens;

-I click anywhere in the file, or just put a note in a stave;

-program lags, show a message (translated from french) : Sibelius.exe stopped functioning. Windows is looking for a solution to the probem;

-then, the program restartsm and I still can't do anything.

I rebooted my computer, nothing has changed. I reinstalled sibelius, nothing has changed. I don't know what to do. can someone help me, please?

Have you updated/upgraded anything or added any programs since this problem started happening?

Sibelius crashes are often actually soundcard driver crashes--is the driver for the sound card up to date?

Possibly this might help--though Im not sure:

Thanks Bob

It might be a problem with the audio output driver, because "I click anywhere in the file, or just put a note in a stave" would normally cause a note's sound to be output.

Please attach screen-shots of these Sibelius dialogue windows:
- Playback Devices (Périphériques de lecture);
- Audio Engine Options (Options du Moteur audio).

You don't seem to have any sound library installed (sib 7 sounds/lite/chamber etc.) What device are you using for MIDI playback?

I don't really use a specific device. I just installed the sounds from the CDs. And I tried to reinstall the sound sets and all, but nothing. It's still crashing.

Yes, but that is the point. If you have correctly installed sib 7 sounds, they should show up in the playback devices list.

Have you tried ticking the Use virtual instruments checkbox? If you do (and before doing anything else) select either an ASIO or WASAPI or MME device from the list - don't choose DS

It looks as if Sibelius has opened in ReWire mode, so that none of its own playback devices work.

In "Audio Engine Options", click the button "Nettoyer".

I did click on ''Nettoyer''. Nothing happened. I rebooted the program to see, but it crashed again.

I did. And it was already set on ASIO. However, I clocked on that button where it showed ASIO and nothing really happened...

I tried everything now. My sound card driver is up to date and everything. I have one idea of a solution left:

If I uninstalled the whole software of sibelius 7.5, and that I reinstalled it again, will it work? I have kept the registration code and all the installing files.

I have the same problem, on Mac OS Yosemite... How can I solve this problem? That functions perfectly with Sibelius 7...

Thanks
