I'm an infrequent user of Sibelius, but every time I do use it, I get driven to distraction with the same layout issues. How do I get the keep bars roughly the same width if they contain similar content? So if I have a 4/4 bar filled with 4 crotchets, I want it to be roughly the same size as another bar later with 4 crotchets, but I invariably get a mixture of widths and bars per system.

If you're letting Sibelius take care of layout - no enforced System breaks or fixed Bars per Line settings, (and there are no notes in other staves requiring a different amount of space) Select All followed by Reset Note Spacing should do the job.
