Hi All,

I've finally upgraded my computer and am now using a Macbook Air.

I'd like to migrate my existing Sibelius 5, that now runs on my Macbook Pro to my Mac Air, but I don't have a cd or dvd drive, so I can't use the original installation discs.

What to do?

Possible alternatives:

1. Purchase a USB-connected optical disc reader drive to use with the Air;

2. Using another Mac which has an optical reader, transfer the entire contents of the discs to large-capacity USB memory sticks, and use the memory sticks to install on the new Air.

Warning: if your new MacBook Air is running Yosemite, then it is highly likely that Sibelius 5 is incompatible, and will not run correctly, especially when playback is attempted. If you wish to continue using Sibelius under a recent Mac OS, then you need to upgrade to Sibelius 7.5, which is supported.

That is some bad news indeed...

I just checked the upgrade page, and this is what I see:

Mac:
Mac OS X 10.6.7, 10.7, 10.8, or 10.9

So OS X 10.10 doesn't seem to be compatible either. Damn.

Sibelius 7.5.1 is compatible with Yosemite Mac OS 10.10, and is fully supported.

Have another Mac that has a CD/DVD drive? Check out Remote Disc. (Help menu - type 'remote disc' with out the quotes)
Basically:
On a mac with an optical drive, open up "System Prefenences - Sharing" and enable DVD/CD sharing
Mount it on the same network as your MBA
Insert your media in the optical drive
In a new finder window on your MBA click Remote Disc and the disc will appear.

Thanks RIck, but I just bought the newest version of Sibelius as a download, and everything was all right :)
