I imported a midi file (which may be the issue) and am editing it. I edited the instrument sounds per line to play the sounds I prefer (for example, electric bass not acoustic bass). When I play the solo line it plays the electric bass sound, yet when I play the score it defaults back to acoustic bass. Anyone know if there is a sounds assignment I imported that I can find someplace or any other idea about how to get it to play the sound I want? Many thanks.

The quickest way to sort this sort of thing out is to create new staves for the right instruments, copy/paste the contents across then delete the original staves.

You might also want to look for hidden text beginning with either p or P. These are MIDI program changes and are often embedded in files. Search the file for any text starting with a tilde (~).
