Hi there,
I'm trying to be able to access my Sib.v.6.2 on my lap top.
I normally use my desk top PC. I've tried downloading it from a search engine on the web, but got a nasty bunch of malware/ adware. I've searched the forum archives, but couldn't find the answer. Any ideas to help in this matter?
I do appreciate that ASAP.
PS - My lap top has an older Windows XP platform.
I recall that - that should not be a problem, correct?

but if youre looking to download Sib 6.2:

Hi Bob,
While trying to download the Sib.v.6.2- using the link you kindly gave me, unfortunately I've encountered a problem. A pop up comes up at the end of the process(BTW - I've tried x3 times) saying "Windows has found a problem with this file". "This file was blocked because it does not have a valid DIGITAL SIGNATURE that varifies its publisher". So what am I to do now??

My copy of the Sibelius 6.2 installer has a valid digital signature.

What web browser are you using?

What anti-malware systems are you using?

What version of Windows are you using? Is it up-to-date with Microsoft Updates?

My default browser in Internet explorer. I have a Norton anti virus program. I had one of their techs help with removing a malware issue as well prior to trying to help me with the download. still, the download didn't work. I'm using an older Windows XP. Do you think that is the problem? Microsoft is no longer supporting XP.

Sib 6 works perfectly well on XP. I suspect there may be an issue with Norton. Try turning it off for the duration of the download. You should be perfectly safe downloading from Avid. You might want to try a different browser (though none is perfect). Also, keep Norton off while you are installing. Personally, I wouldn't give Norton disc room as it always caused me problems whatever machine I have had.

It is possible the malware caused a problem with your system. Not all such problems are spottable immediately. You could do worse than install antimalware software to prevent future infections. I use Malwarebytes, which seems pretty effective and doesn't interfere with Sibelius.

How old? Does it have Service Pack SP3?

Has it been updated with all optional Windows Updates for "Certificate Updates"? (up-to-date certificates are required for checking digital signatures).

If this PC has previously had a malware infection, it is possible that the Windows XP installation has been damaged in subtle ways.

Try R-clicking the downloaded installation file and looking at Properties. There may be something there about "This file came from the Internet..." and asking you if you want to unblock it.

Another reason why the digital signature check might fail is that the download is in fact corrupt. This might be something to do with the quality of the broadband connection, or your local Ethernet or Wi-Fi hardware. If you are using wireless, try a wired Ethernet connection for downloads.
