Sib. 7.1.3: l.v. release
Posted by Ned Phoenix - 17 Nov 10:03PM
Sib713 PC
'l.v.' makes subsequent notes sustain forever.
How do I release the l.v. indication?
Thanks, NP

non-L.V. or non-LV, if theyre in your Playback dictionary should do the trick.

Also I believe teh midi message ~C64,0--which also stops the piano pedal sustain.

Thanks Bob

Thanks Bob. 'non-l.v.' stops the 'l.v.'
Note to others: the hyphen is necessary to make this work.

I am not familiar with midi or how to create it. But I do notice similar indications when I use the harmonics playback plugin.

Midi messages are covered in the Sib 713 pdf ref man on pp 598-605.

Please see attachment from that section.

Thank Bob

l.v. seems to be defined as "MIDI controller 64 On". Which is the Sustain controller, equivalent to the sustain pedal on a piano.

Logical - but not always helpful. I suggest that you write l.v. if you wish, as an instruction to a live player, but turn off its Play On Pass properties. Instruments (such as cymbals) to which you might apply l.v. will normally resound to their natural length anyway.

Thank you both.
I originally tried turning off play on pass, but it does not work for l.v.
I am using 'non-l.v.', hidden.

I wonder why Play On Pass doesn't work for you? Try the attached score. The first l.v. is switched off, the second isn't. I used Trumpet as it demonstrates the effect very clearly!

Thank you, Laurence, for your efforts.

I wonder why the attachments sent by people on the Sib Forum do not appear with the emails I get in my Yahoo email.

I must go to the Forum to see that you sent both a Capture and a Sib75 attachment.

As indicated, I have Sib713. But the capture shows what you did.

I just tried again unchecking play on pass for the 'l.v.'s, but it does not cancel the subsequent mash of sustained notes a few mss later.

I would rather the 'l.v.'s work, even if I must insert 'non-l.v.' after them.

Best, NP
