Hi,
I've created songs in another music notation software (Myriad Harmony Assistant). And then I purchased Sibelius, and I'm wondering if it's possible to take a song I wrote on this other product and input it into Sibelius.

Has anyone ever done this?

According to this:

"Harmony Assistant can load and save in many formats (MIDI, WAV, AIFF, MP3, OGG, TAB, ABC, XML...)."

Harmony Assistant can save in XML--which you can then open in Sib, and you'll probably have to do some editing on it.

Hey Bob, thanks. That's great to know. Now, do you have any idea what the step-by-step process if for making the transfer? I'm very new at this. To review, I have a Harmony Assistant music file and I want to open it in Sibelius. Thanks greatly for any help you can give! --Tom

I imagine you open it in Harmony Assistant, then do a Save As or Export choosing Music XML format. Then open the result in Sibelius. Dropping an XML file on top of the Sibelius desktop icon works for me.

Hi Tom--

Youre welcome:)

And its very simple--export (save) the file in XML format in Harmony assistant, and import (open) that file in Sibelius.

When you export/save from Harmony Assistant, the file should have an .xml suffix.

Here's the Export menu in Harmony Assistant. I just tried with the demo version. XML exported OK. Sibelius complained about the file structure, then opened it anyway. (That quite often happens when you drop an XML into Sibelius.) Seemed to come across OK.
