I have some instruments in a score where the parts are empty and the instruments are hidden in the score but when I export the parts and score as a PDF Sibelius 7.5.1 includes the empty parts. I then have to edit the PDF file and remove them. Is there a way to convince Sibelius to only export parts that are shown in the score?

There are comprehensive options for which parts to export in the Export PFD dialogue. But they're not completely automatic...

I know about those, the problem is you have to know which parts you want if you choose "selection of parts". Sibelius should have an option that says "don't print hidden parts" or something like that. There's a reason they're hidden.

Lots of reasons they could exist, there's a reason Sibelius allows composers to hide instruments, but in this case I've used them in various forms for experimentation of sounds then removed the notation from the parts. Sure, I can just save a different file but having a master copy is just easier.

Oh well, I'll figure out another way, just seems logical to have an option that says "Don't print empty parts". I mean why bother to allow composers to hide instruments if Sibelius still insists on printing them?

Exactly what you're asking for doesn't seem to be available. But there may still be ways of improving your work-flow.

Generally, yes, I export as one file. Just makes for easier distribution. I can do it manually by selecting which parts to include, which works, it's just not as fast. I can, however, live with that option.

Easier for you to distribute. I wonder if it's easier for the recepient to print? Maybe, if he only prints single-sided...

One patch is available for one voice than the other. If I want a snare part to use the marching band patch and its not available to use on one line than you would his the part with the 5 lines and let it play while you mute the snare part with one line.
