If he doesn`t know already, I would think Adrian will be interested in this Daily Telegraph obituary. I wonder if you ever met him Adrian? Here`s the link:

I knew him very well, Tony. I met him on several occasions in California and more recently in New Orleans. I'm very honoured to have won the friendship of such a great man. He really was "Mr. Nice Guy" and my inspiration for settling on playing bass trombone after trying nearly every other brass/reed instrument. This is sad news indeed. He will be missed by many other musicians. Thank you, Tony, for passing on this news.

I can remember `bout 10 years ago playing (piano) your bass trom solo - now my memory plays tricks regularly these days - is it called `Mr Nice Guy`, as you mention? I now know who it`s dedicated to. Very appropriate Adrian.
It`s a very attractive piece, and we had Pete Waters who played it so coolly. He`s was a music teacher in Wimbledon - lives in Walton on Thames. and I think he`s retired now, but a lovely guy with great bass sounds to the trombone section.

OMG it`s George isn`t it, not Geoge!!

Yes, I penned "Mr. Nice Guy" for a special 70th birthday celebration in Hollywood for George (solo'd by Phil Teele with Bones West trombone choir). It was later recorded by soloist Doug Yeo (of Boston Symphony & Pops Orchs) backed by Williams Fairey (brass) Band in Manchester (UK).
