For some unknown reason, some notes in the score are not playing back. Sibelius plays back all the notes normally but stops just the last bars before the end and only in one instrument, the other instrument keeps playing. There is no hidden technique text in the silent bars, and in properties everything is set to playback.

Also, some legato phrases are being played staccato although when giving them 2 legato slurs, it is playing back legato.

Another issue is that when using a trill line, Sibelius starts to playback trills on notes earlier and later in that bar. Using the ord. command doesn't help to keep them from trilling.

I didn't have these issues in Sibelius 6.2, is this a 7.5 bug?

If you wish us to help, please attach the Sibelius .sib score that demonstrates these issues. We cannot work in a vacuum.

If you are actually using Sibelius 7.5, please update to 7.5.1.

Thanks Robin, here is the page that gives the problem. I am working in 7.5.1
The problem bars are bar 11 and bar 19 till the end in the flute part.

I have not been able to reproduce all the issues that you report: but I'm on Windows, and you are, I suspect, on Mac OS.

There are multiple issues lurking in the score, and possibly interacting.

First, I recommend, when auditioning for proof-reading purposes:
- turn off Live Tempo;
- turn off Live Playback;
- turn all playback Performance options to "Meccanico".

Then you will know that what you hear is in the music, rather than the interpretation.

For me, the flute plays all the way to the end with no missing notes.

However, I have noted the following issues:

- in the score, there are multiple instances of Technique Text "Pizz." which are never cancelled, and will therefore apply all the way through the rest of the score;

- there appear to be issues with articulations on grace notes, so I recommend removing all of those;

- there can sometimes be difficulties with notes being overloaded with multiple SoundID changes, resulting in a wrong sample being selected as the "nearest match". Examples are the Tongue-pizz notehead which is defined as "+staccatissimo +pizzicato" as well as having "Pizz." technique overlaid. There are no pizzicato flute samples in Sibelius 7 Sounds, so specifying "Pizz." or +pizzicato might lead to strange sample selections. I suggest that you remove "Play on pass" for the Pizz. texts, and remove the +pizzicato from the Tongue-pizz notehead playback dictionary.

- I am puzzled by the double grace notes in bar 6 being so slow to play, and I can't even duplicate how these got created like this.

Thanks for all the tips, Robin. I got it to work! The trill problem was because of settings I made in the Play performance window, and I didn't even think that the pizz. could give me problems because after all it's a piece for flute, not for strings. I turned off all the playback for the pizz. in the score.

- I am puzzled by the double grace notes in bar 6 being so slow to play, and I can't even duplicate how these got created like this.
This happened because I checked the Grace Notes checkbox in the Performance window. I turned it off now, because that's not what I wanted.

I am new to Sibelius 7.5 with the new performance options, I need some more time to experiment with this.

I have the same issue where some notes are skipped in some simple 6/8 bars: and the note that gets skipped depends on the starting position of the cursor! If you start from the beginning the first c sharp in the second bar gets skipped. If you start from the second bar, the problem occurs a few bars later.I tried both my own Sibelius first and my wife's Sibelius 7: exactly the same. I created the score on Sibelius first, I also tried to copy it into a Sibelius 7 file: no change. (I also followed your advise above and switched off Live Tempo etc., but no change.)

The score has dangling ties, which cause the next note of the same pitch to be suppressed.

It is possible that you should have been using slurs, not ties.
